Historias y percepciones sobre la educación de excelencia.
My son, Nathaniel, is a scholar in Ms. Herrera’s kindergarten class at Success Academy Washington Heights. When I first saw her at a “meet the teachers” picnic in the fall, I just knew in my gut that she was going to be Nathaniel’s teacher! When she introduced herself, her words and smile said it all; she grew up in our neighborhood and went to the same high school.
There aren’t enough words to say thank you, but I want Ms. Herrera to know that my husband, Will, and I are forever grateful to her for giving our son the gift of learning and love! Every time he picks up a book to read to us, we always know that it was with Ms. Herrera’s help that he learned how!
Just recently I received a call from her. Her whole class wanted to tell me the exciting news that Nathaniel was now reading at level J! They were all so excited and they were cheering for Nathaniel, and that just made me cry! She encourages him and all the scholars to do their best, and for me that’s enough. He, in turn, encourages his classmates, his teammates, and his family!
To you, Ms. Herrera, and all the other teachers, the principal, and staff at Success Academy Washington Heights, we thank you and appreciate all that you have done and continue to do for our son and all the children there!!!! I’m grateful.
